My father Bruce Buchanan some might have referred to him as Buck was on the ground at Koh Tang with 2/9. I don’t have much detail on what company he was in. He won’t talk about it much. Lately he has been struggling with the loss of his brothers due to illnesses and other natural causes. I would love to get him reconnect with the men he went into battle with

Thank you to the veterans of Ko Tang and the Mayaguez for wearing the uniform, and for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. I sincerely appreciate you.
I initially learned about this battle some years ago, and then this website while doing a lot of reading on the subject.
During a guest’s speech at the 2026 Memorial Day ceremony here in Anchorage, I remembered our 3 Marine brothers who were left behind, alive.
Since then, I’ve been reading all I can on this battle. I am glad to see more new information has been posted over the years, so the younger generations will be able to learn about you and this event will not be forgotten.
I feel a slight connection to the beach club, as I served in Wpns Co., 3/9, 1st MarDiv. 83-84.

I rode the Hammerin Hank DDG 7 with Tom Noble being my leading petty officer during this time. He is a great man and taught me a lot. I am writing because I just went on an Never Forgotten Honor Flight Out of North Central Wisconsin. This was their fourth such flight this year that was completely paid for by donations from companies and organizations fund raisers from our local communities. That alone is amazing that they can fill a Boeing 737 with only Vets and their guardians. This was the most unimaginable event of a lifetime. All VETS need to go one of these Honor Flights. I had been to DC before and saw all the monuments. But, this was so real. While we debarked the airplane in DC and headed thru the terminal we were greeted with solid clapping, handshakes, high fives, and chants of USA by the individuals waiting to board their flight. As chills ran through my body, I realized WE as Americans are still standing on solid ground and the American Spirit is back and WE as VETS are WELCOMED HOME Again. The tours and sites of DC are all great to take in and visit. Our return flight was another very emotional memory as we held MAIL CALL with letters from family and friends, local school children, places of Worship, other companies and organizations. I personally could not finish reading all of my mail before arriving to back to a jam packed airport of family and friends of all the Vets. Great Experience. GO ON AN HONOR FLIGHT YOU EARNED IT.

Hello everyone. Some of you know me some do not. For those that don't know me I'm Danny Marshalls niece and as of August of 2024 I'm also his primary next of kin. I was lucky enough to get to go to Koh Tang this May. It's actually where I spent the 15th. I was on Koh Tang with Clark Hale. I want all of you to know that while I may have lost my biological uncle that day, I feel like I gained 2 entire platoons of adopted uncles and a few bonus dads thrown into the mix. Fred Morris has my contact info and if any of you ever want to talk to me can make it happen. Larry Barnett also knows how to get a hold of me. Love you all

The reunion in Washington was great Tina and Al did a great job plus all the others that put in time to make it
