I was at Moffett when it happened. I remember being a young Marine wanting to go into battle. When I got the real story from a new commanding officer at our Marine Barracks, Moffett Field I was sick. Lt. Ustes, which I do not see on the list, was awarded a metal by Ford and advanced to Capt while I was at the base. Capt Ustes sat us all down and explained how things went down. I still think about today. What a bad deal.

My father, David M. Underwood was with E 2/9 and participated in the SS Mayaguez Recovery. If anyone here knew or served with him could E-Mail me I would be EXTREMELY appreciative! To let you guys know he is doing fine, married shortly after leaving the Corps and has two children and 3..soon to be 4 grandchildren. He's been living in Lancaster, Pa ever since leaving the service.

Happy Holidays everyone,
I have a new mission in life and that is to raise $1640.00 to purchase bricks for the 41 fallen heros to be placed in my home town of Gresham where there constructing a new memorial for all fallen heros over the years. Please help or atleast e-mail me for ideas on how to raise the money.
