An update from the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum: The renovation of the Museum's core exhibit has been postponed to the fall of 2015, so we will be fully open to the public in May for the 40th anniversary. We plan to mark the occasion with small lobby displays at our Museum in Grand Rapids and our Library in Ann Arbor. Feel free to contact me if you plan on visiting. I would be honored to meet you and to provide a tour. Take care.

I was fireman in 4Charlie Fireroom, on the USS CORAL SEA CVA 43. We were a day out of Perth Australia, when we went full power to get to the Area of koh tang , and MAYAQUEZ. My heart goesout to the service people, and families. There should be a special medal for that rescue.

I was one of the A-7 pilots that saturated the Mayaguez with "Riot Control Agent" just before the USS Holt pulled alongside. I was leading the second of the two A-7 two ship elements that gassed the ship-sorry if it bothered any of you.

I believe there are about 18 planning to return to Cambodia for the 40th anniversary. If you plan on attending, and your name is not on the list, please let me know. Fred, we need to add Larry Barnett to the list.
I got a message from John Murell, who is organizing this event from Phnom Penh. He he asked me toget this out to all those that are attending. These are recommendataions. He really wants this event to be big!
1. Name reading by relatives - next of kin.
2. Maybe make a steel capsule with any personal items of the fallen, letters, to drop in the sea along with laying a wreath.
3. A chaplain mustbe with our group to deliver the service.
4.I, John, plan to write Senator John McCain, now head of Defense committee, and John Kerry and invite them to this event.
5. Perhaps some survivors would like to give a story or two about their fallen mates during this event?
This is also the 40th anniversary of the end of the VietNam War. We need to make this event the best we can.

I was on board the H.E. Holt. I watched some of the battle from a port hole. I was stationed in one of the forced draft blower rooms during GQ, upon arrival. Circle William was a bitch, after the tear gas started to enter the ship.

I was a Corporal in H&S 2/9 81's platoon during the Mayaguez. I was with the group that did not make it off the airstrip deck in Tailand, but some of secetions did make it. I was a crew member on board the USS Coral Sea CVA 43 at the time of the Mayaquez incident. I too recall those days as if it were yesterday and would appreciate knowing when and where your next reunion will be held. Thank you
