It is with heavy heart that I have to inform everyone that Betty Hoffman (Dan's Wife) passed away Tuesday night in her sleep. Betty was a wonderful Lady and will be so missed by all. I can't imagine the grief and pain that our brother is going through. Please keep Dan in your prayers. When I know more details, I will let everyone know.

Merry Christmas to all. Let us all pray for our country and that 2022 is a much better year than 2020 and 2021.

The most memorable moment in my life.
To experience the exit from Hong Kong and making fast pace to Kohtang was accelerating. Seeing the boarding of other forces to the Holt put more of a perspective to our mission. Highlight for this MM was when our Chief stationed me near a hatch just beyond the starboard breezeway. He told me to keep the hatch open for air circulation and added "if you hear/feel any unexpected Boom or other action.... dive through the hatch and close it as I go!"
Most memorable event of my life.
One I will cherish forever. I feel bad as I've forgotten so many names and due to theft I no longer have pictures etc.
But regardless I will always be proud having served on the HoltDE1074/ HoltFF1074.

Hi Allen
We met at Sol Duc Hot Springs. You certainly Have a tough system, handling the hot pool then the 64 degree pool just jumping in without a thought! It was great talking to you and your wife. It's nice to talk trees with another professional while sitting in a hot pool surrounded by some of the worlds tallest trees and a rain forest! That doesn't happen but once in a life.
I hope you will continue to do well and to enjoy your retirement!
Take care,
Anne and Ross

For Tom Noble and Staff... The USS Henry B. Wilson (DDG-7) Ship and nearly all of the Crew "Never" received a Combat Action Ribbon (CAR) However; apparently it's pretty easy to obtain one per this article. It's a Damn Shame that the Wilson Ship/Crew never received this Award! The USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) "Never Fired a Single Round of Anything! Just plain BS!
- USS Henry B. Wilson DDG-7 on May 15, 1975: After 24 hours of Firefights,
154 rounds of 5" 54 HE, and 60,000 Rounds of .50 cal.
- USS Kearsarge (LHD-3): Rounds Fired (0).
Sailors from the amphibious assault ship Kearsarge and dock landing ship Ashland have been awarded the Combat Action Ribbon for an Aug. 19, 2005 incident in Aqaba, Jordan. The crews were notified by letter from 5th Fleet on Dec. 1, according to a Kearsarge spokesman. While Kearsarge and Ashland were tied up pier side in port, a rocket flew over Ashland’s bow and past Kearsarge, hitting a nearby warehouse. The Katyusha rocket killed a Jordanian soldier and wounded another. Both were standing watch on the pier. Two other rockets launched over the harbor. One landed in Israel, and the other near a Jordanian hospital. Islamic militants claimed responsibility. No Americans were hurt and no U.S. equipment sustained damage. My Last Post on This Website. Stayed BLESSED Folks!
