Hey George just read your message about seeing my truck at the casino. Your the first one who's ever responded about my truck.Maybe my mission to get the forgotten battle out there by advertising it on my truck is gonna work. We're gonna be there again on Saturday early if you have time to shake my hand. I was on the coral sea also. Email me if you want. Thanks for responding.

Mr Hunter I am one of the survivors of the Mayaguez incident and had my truck wrapped to symbolize my story. It's amazing how people don't even know about it. It is my mission to let people know who are interested just what The Forgotten Battle is.Let's make a movie like they did for The Maersk ship that was pirated. They think that ship was the last pirated ship in over 200 years. Wrong!,

Gentlemen,
Hello, I am an Army major and Iraq veteran. I am working on a master's degree in U.S history and recently stumbled upon the story of the Mayaguez and Koh Tang. I am planning on writing about the Battle of Koh Tang for my thesis project. I am interested in how the history of the end of Vietnam has been written, and believe that viewing it from your perspective as Koh Tang veterans could change the way people think about it. I've collected a good number of books on the Mayaguez Incident and found some articles from over the years but would love any recommendations on where else to look for information. Also, the chance to meet any of you would be great as well. I am stationed in the DC area now if anyone is close by. I am very impressed by both your service and your commitment to each other through this group and look forward to learning more about both. respectfully, Major Mike Hunter U.S. Army, historian in training |

ALRIGHT, THOSE WHO WERE ON THE HAPPY HARRY ON MAY 15 1975 THIS IS FOR YOU. I TALKED TO AL BAILEY LAST NIGHT ON THE PHONE (HE IS ONE OF THE ORGANIZERS OF THE REUNIONS WE HAVE). NOW HE ASKED ME TWO QUESTIONS. FIRST DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE CO'S OF THE HOLT, CORAL SEA AND WILSON ARE STILL LIVING AND WHERE THEY ARE. HE WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT ONE OF THEM TO BE GUESS SPEAKER FOR THE NEXT REUNION. SECOUND HE WOULD LIKE ANYONE FROM THESE SHIP TO CONTACT HIM. HE WANTS MORE SAILORS AND AIR FORCE PERSONNEL TO COME. THE REASON WHY IS THAT THEY FEEL IF IT WASN'T FOR US MANY MORE OF THE MARINES WOULD NOT BE HERE WITH US TODAY. I WENT TO THE 2016 REUNION WITH DOUBT AS IF I WOULD BE WELCOME. WELL AFTER THE FIRST MINUTE

I just found this site, I was PO3 radio operator on a VP-17 P-3 flying high level
communication and surveillance that day. I listened on the VHF during the whole operation we were their before the Jollies came in at daybreak. You all have my highest respect for what you did and went through that day. I have some pictures of the island and the USS Holt. Also we had one of our P-3's shot at and hit when they buzzed the Mayeguez after locating it earlier after it was first taken. Thanks for the site. |

Semper Fi my Brothers!, as I mentioned in my last message, I was with H&S Co., 2/9,
Camp Schwab, Okinawa, on May 0f 1975. I stayed back on Camp Schwab & I handled all the mail for 2/9. I remember SSgt Anderson nickname: Hawkeye, mine was "Yogi", I remember Lcpl Schreck, Lcpl Ogle, Larry Branson, Dan Kinner, Smitty, many others, but unfortunately me memory escapes me, maybe some of you that remember me may try and get a hold of me. I had many fond memeories of 2/9 personnel, brothers in arms!! God Bless all of you!! |
