To you who served and fought at
Koh Tang Beach I render my gratitude.
I began learning about the Mayagüez incident about a year ago from my good friend and brother John (jopa)Parks who
was a helicopter crew chief in Vietnam
and who has a website
http://home.comcast.net/~1jopa/index.html
dedicated to the memory of PFC Danny Marshall, LCpl Joseph N. Hargrove and Pfc Gary L. Hall, who are MIA's of
the battle at Koh Tang Beach.
I have also become friends with Jeff (Stump) Kern who served and fought with E/2/9 at Koh Tang Beach.
I would like to say more, perhaps at
some later time. For now, I'm just so
grateful to be able to spend such a
hallowed moment and share my thoughts
and prayers for those who served and
and those who made the ultimate sacrifice
at Koh Tang Beach.
Semper Fi Brothers
Very Sincerely
Gary Porter

Hey All,
I was a corpsman with Mike 3/9's second platoon. We were on float, yet you somehow got picked for the invasion. We were steaming aboard the USS Tuscaloosa to get in place when they sent you in. Have felt bad ever since, not just for the loss of life, but also for the gov'ts first real attempt at botching up a joint operation.
May God bless you all.
Semper Fi,
Doc McTee

Gentlemen - I got up this morning after having worked at your Golf Scramble at NSWC Crane's Eagle View Golf Course and just had to find out if you had a website. I was so glad to find one!
You all show the true meaning of America being the Land of the Free Because of the Brave! It was such a pleasure for our Sorotity to support your 2008 reunion and we hope we see you all again in the future. Take care!

I was with 2/9 81's from 4/76-4/77.
I met a few of the Marines that landed on Koh Tang Island before they rotated back to the States. You all have my utmost respect and admiration. God Bless all of you.
