Happy birthday brothers and sisters. To all of those at the gates you are remembered and thank you for your sacrifice. To those that have left a piece somewhere, we stand with you. And to those that made it thru unscathed we will all stand at the gates for one of these birthdays and we will see each other there. Semper Fi....

My brother Larry Vavra was in Golf Co. 2/9 3rd Marine Division. He participated in the battle at Koh-Tang.There is a picture of him being issued a grenade standing in the foreground. He is holding the grenade in his right hand -and the caption of the picture reads "grenades anyone?"He died in 2014 of a heart attack. I am his brother Dennis Vavra - I was stationed at the Marine Barracks Subic Bay during the battle...Semper Fi..Dennis

Gentlemen, I think of all of you often and am proud to have met and know a good number of you. My father, David Fowler, spoke very highly of you all and held each of the men he fought with and beside very close to his heart. It's because of the heroic efforts of you all that I am here today to be able to thank you and tell you that my father couldn't have been surrounded by greater men. I look forward to the next opportunity to see and speak with you all again and hope that opportunity presents itself sooner rather than later. God Bless you all. Semper Fi, Marines!
