If my calculations are correct, taking into consideration the 13 hour time difference and the International Date Line, 1903 EST today 5/14, is exactly 0603 5/15 on Koh Tang, exactly 42 years ago when the first helicopters went in. Please raise a toast with me and say a prayer for our brothers. Semper FI

The Associated Press - Today in History: "1975 - The White House announced the new Cambodian government had seized an American merchant ship, the Mayaguez, in international waters. (U.S. Marines gained control of the ship three days after its seizure, not knowing the 39 civilian crew members had been released by Cambodia.)" Semper Fi! Edd

I was a Medic at NKP, Thailand when the Mayaguez was captured. I also was at the crash site of the Air Force helicopter that was SHOT down at the beginning of the Mission and am very angry the DoD and Dept. of the Air Force continue to refer to that downed chopper as a "mechanical malfunction." I saw the hole in the armor plate from the Jolly Green and it was from the outside in, not the inside out. Is there anyone out there, Air Force, who was also at the "crash" site in Thailand??

Hey Larry Branson!, wow, it is truly wonderful to hear back from you. It was a great time to be in the Marines back then, memories I treasure to this day. I still have a photo of us eating pizza when we were in I believe was either Tokyo or the Phillipines. I am now happily married and serving in God's Army.
We will be in Glendale, AZ. the weekend of June 10 & 11, 2017, for the Harvest America Crusade being held at the University of Phoenix Stadium on Sunday night at 7pm. If you are close by maybe we can meet for a couple of hours, either that Sat or Sun, please let me know, my email is: takingittothestreets7@gmail.com God Bless you my brother!! |

In this mornings Tulsa World newspaper I found this interesting tid-bit in the AP's Today in History column: "1975 - President Gerald Ford formally declared an end to the 'Vietnam era.' In Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) the Viet Cong celebrated its takeover." At that time, little did we realize what history had in store for us in five days time. I can imagine that most of you feel pretty much the same as I do this time of the year. It seems like every year it gets just a little more difficult to cope with the feelings. Stay strong, Brothers! 42 years ago we steamed away from Vietnam, supposedly to a more peaceful time. Little did we know what lay ahead. My thoughts to all!
