By providence, on May 19th, I ran into one of your members, Allen Bailey, at Midway Airport. He saw a patch on my vest and recognized that I served as an Air Force Security Policeman. It was 17 of our guys, as well as the helicopter crew, that crashed and died on the way to rescue the Mayaguez. Allen told me that at your reunions you graciously recognize our guys along with yours. For that I say, "Thank You, and Welcome Home Brothers."

I just want to say a special thank you to the Koh Tang vets and for a wonderful reunion. Thank you for the special gift to of the vest to Bob. Also thank you to all the men for carrying Bob up and down the stairs. Bob is having a hard time talking these days, so if he was quiet it is taking effort to talk and to swallow. We got back from Branson Monday late afternoon and my dad died Tuesday morning suddenly. He was in the Air Force. Again thank you to all the vets.

As many of you may know I had to write a thirty page English 102 paper for college. I was originally going to write it on WWII but I realized I did not have enough time. So I ended up changing my mind and I decided to write it on the SS Mayaguez Operation. When I was writing the paper I honestly knew little to nothing about the operation. With the help of my dad (Al Mahan), Tim Trebil, Steve Simoni, A Very Short War, The Mayaguez Incident, Siezed at Sea, A section from Bob W. Ford on virtualwall.org called "A Note from The Virtual Wall", as well as a few others that I can't think of right now, I was able to write the paper on the SS Mayaguez Operation. I received my grade on the paper today and I ended up getting an "A" which is the first time receiving an "A" from this teacher. I will send the paper to everyone that wants to read it all you have to do is send me an email to (cmahan94@outlook.com). It will be a few days because I will try to send one big email to everyone. I hope you all will like it and it was an honor to write the paper. Thank you all for your service!
